1900

RW Cameron Co begins operating as Australian agent for The Texas Company (subsequently Texaco Inc.)

1918

The Texas Company Australasia Limited is incorporated in NSW

1936

The Texas Company and Standard Oil of California (now Chevron) forms California Texas Oil Company (renamed Caltex Petroleum Corporation in 1968)

Australian Motorists Petrol Company is incorporated

1941

Caltex brand used for the first time in Australia

1948

Australian Motorists Petrol Company lists on the Australian Securities Exchange

1949

Australian Motorists Petrol Company changes name to Ampol Petroleum Limited

1965

Ampol’s Lytton refinery in Brisbane comes on stream

1989

Ampol delists following takeover by Pioneer International

1995

Caltex and Ampol merge to form Australian Petroleum Pty Ltd, owned equally by Caltex Australia and Pioneer International

1997

Caltex Australia acquires full ownership of Australian Petroleum Pty Ltd – 50% shares owned by Chevron and the balance by ASX shareholders

2012

Caltex announces closure of the Kurnell refinery

2013

Ampol Singapore commences trading

2015

Chevron sells down its 50% share of Caltex Australia
